That's the beauty in this song. It gives you something to relate to, something to feel down and sad with, and then it pulls you up in a matter of 2 sentences.
And i find Em's songs just so so amazing, because it gives you something to relate to. Not in a relationship sense; unlike other rappers, but in a life sense. It motivates you and it pulls you together.
Basically the verse above speaks for itself. Many times in life, we ask, be it just asking the air, or asking someone up there, why are certain things happening in our lives? We compare our lives with others, and we start asking again. But what we don't realise is no matter how happy the people around us seem, they too have their own problems. Its not that much of who's life is better and who's dealt more shit... Its about who responds better to it. I have this belief, that we are all equal beings. God is not biased, and no matter how you look at it, everyone in this world is dealt different cards, which adds up to the same numbers. Some may ask what that means. It simply means that there's no one person who is super rich, super happy, super hot, have a perfect family, etc. We just don't see the missing components in other people's lives, because we are always busy comparing with the things that they have but we don't. The bottomline here is quite clear, happy people don't have better lives than you. They just see things more positively. They are just more easily content. And they just manage their emotions better. "We gotta take this cards ourselves and flip them, dont expect no help".
Y'know, another thing that i can relate to in this song, is just taking notice of things. Back to the special thing about this song, the whole song is basically e-m-o; i mean even the chorus is. But if we don't listen, if we don't take note of the lyrics, we're never gonna find the 3rd verse, and we're never gonna know the true meaning of this song. Isn't it the same for life? If we always look at the general direction of how things are going, we're never gonna know the minor details thats making life move in that direction. We'll never be able to see why we fail at certain things even though we don't seem to be as shabby compared to the people who are succeeding in it. Because its about the details. It's about places in your mind you've never ventured to that makes the difference.
So knowing all these, the question i post to you readers today. Are you gonna continue sitting on ur ass and piss and moan? Or are you gonna take this situation and get up and get your own? Think about it.
