Basically it simply means living each day as they come. Talking about happiness, one thing i learnt through the years is that its easier to focus on it on a daily basis. I mean, what's hard about trynga make yourself feel happy for a day yeah? Just keep your troubles away for this day, live it specially, for like i've been saying for time and time again, once today's over, it ain't coming back.

Be it music, the lyrics, or just what people say to you, or do to you. We often get brought down by such. Yes, such will influence the way you feel. Simply by listening to an emo song when you're down, it just creates a chain of thoughts in you through these lyrics, and it amplifies how you feel. Been there done that. Yet the second part of the quote tells you that despite these external influences, you are still in total control of your actions. You still determine if you were to be happy or not. You could just ignore these lyrics, what they say, and what people do to hurt you, or you could very well sink back into your state of depression. Truth is, whether you are happy or sad, is what you choose to be.
Sometimes, we aren't truly sad. We just choose to be, out of our sub conciousness. It may be that we have already been in the state of pity for such a long period of time that our sub conciousness tells us that is how we are supposed to feel. Every time we try to feel happy, it feels as though we're being held back and tied down. We feel tired. Yet have you asked yourself, if you're feeling this way because you are truly sad, or is it just tiring to break the barrier of frequency and just being used to how things are?

On a side note, if you're reading too much of FML, please do stop reading it for the sake of amusement and entertainment. GMH is way better. Trust me.
